Common Explains Where Beef With Drake Stems From

Common talks about beef with Drake and confirms that it isn’t over Serena Williams…

The battle between Drake and Common has been the talk of the blogosphere lately and with the latter’s recently released dis track over Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin,” one has to wonder where the animosity stems from.
Last night, Common appeared on Sirius Hip-Hop Nation radio show on which he clarified the battle between he and Drake is not because of Serena Williams, instead, “I got in this because it’s hip-hop,” he explained.
“I was speaking up on the song ‘Sweet’ about, over and over we’re hearing a lot of singing,” he continued. “I listen to R&B, I listen to good R&B and soul music, so I’m not opposed to singing. I’ma be frank about that. But I just spoke up for the art of hip-hop and what I feel about it. Once he said something back, that’s when I said, ‘aight, I guess you want to get in a battle with me. And if that’s what you want, then I’ll battle.’”
Common also professed that despite the battle, he didn’t intentionally mean to dis Drizzy on “Sweet.”
“I was like, ‘well, I wasn’t trying to address you specifically, but if you feel like you are that person and if you’re addressing this to me, then I have to address you back.’”
